[October 2, 2007] "I am afraid that due to folks being in the field and travelling over the summer, we have yet to make a decision. However, I just sent out emails this morning to the committee and should have an answer for you after the Austin meeting. I do not think we will be able to assess whether academic theft has occurred without holding some sort of investigation in which the accused has a chance to defend himself. That could take some time and is probably outside our mandate. However, we are reviewing the material that you and W. Palmer provided and will deliberate the case as a committee."
