Unwarranted editorial intrusion in favour of the GNU GPL

Someone called Ogerman at Slashdot has observed:
``Saying GPL is less free because it forbids proprietary derivatives is like saying the United States is less free because it forbids slavery.''

``The only freedom that the GPL withholds is the freedom to take away others' freedom.''

Pragmatic reason to prefer GPL: a GPL'd project can integrate BSD-licenced components, but not vice versa.
